Rock City Shops: An Eggcellent Kitchen Store & More

Need a nifty gadget for your favorite cook? Something like an all-in-one avocado cut, pit and scoop tool? Or maybe you’re looking for a more personalized, hands-on approach to your cooking ventures. Something more meaningful than a Google search. Eggshells Kitchen Co. has you covered.

Lindsey Gray, former president of Junior League of Little Rock, fulfilled a longstanding dream and bought the Little Rock-based business three years ago in August. She marries her accounting and business background with her love of cooking and entertaining to make Eggshells a warm, welcoming and educationally fun business to visit.

“I had always wanted to own my own business, and especially something in retail,” the mother of three boys says. “A mutual friend told my brother it was for sale and every door just opened. I’ve always loved to cook, bake and entertain.”

Lindsey didn’t discover her culinary passion until after she was married 12 years ago.

“I sold Pampered Chef when Brandon and I were first married, mainly so I could learn how to cook and bake,” she says.

Her love for finding new recipes continues today, and she enjoys sharing them with Eggshells customers and friends on social media and through the cooking classes the shop offers.

You’ve come to the right spot if you have a special culinary mission that big-box stores can’t seem to fulfill. One of Lindsey’s favorite things about her job is meeting a customer’s challenge to find what they need. Her entire staff is energetic about cooking and is most comfortable in the kitchen.

“We let customers take things out of the box so they can see it and touch it to understand how it works,” she says. “The best way to know if it’s what you need is to play with it and see.”

Surprisingly, this cooking aficionado started her education journey at Ouachita Baptist University as a music major. Her service on the AR Kids Read Board of Directors keeps her busy when she’s not at Eggshells or managing her household of boys. She also serves with the Arkansas Children’s Hospital Auxiliary.

Upcoming Eggshells events include cooking camps for children, ages 6-12, during the summer. Kids learn the science behind baking and cooking in the kitchen and get recipes every day to make their own lunch. Eggshells participates in the Heights Third Thursday neighborhood collaboration, be sure to stop by for a specialty cocktail.  They also feature regular cooking classes three to four times a month, featuring local chefs.
